The Man on his building

themanonhisbuilding.jpg

This year the theme was da Vinci's Workshop - And the man was supposed to mimic the famous drawing by da Vinci - The Vitruvian Man. Also, the man was supposed to rotate vertically powered by Burners at the bottom pushing a shaft that connected to a series of wooden gears at the top of the building (which you can see in this photo - The whole wooden gear thing being very much in keeping with the da Vinci theme.). Unfortunately, something went wrong (I heard it was a broken part) that prevented this feature of this year's man from performing his tumbling duties. After valient attempts to get this fixed, the drew eventually opened the building to the public, and blocked off access to the spokes of the wheel that would have performed the rotation. I'm sure this was a huge disappointment for the whole man crew. The building itself was rather plain with drawing of some of da Vinci's works decorating the ceiling. All in all, a pretty impressive bit of work.

It did make it the Burn different in that the signal for the real start of the festivities is the man raising his hands. Well, his hands were up all week, so that was different.
