Burning Man is a LEAVE NO TRACE event. You cannot take shower and waste water and just dump it on the ground. It has MOOP in it and leave a stain.
Steve would be up all night tending to his pools of gray water - filtering and processing and chemically testing it to make it clean enough to actually put down on the playa. The Earth Guardians came by and certified his water as clean enough to spread out on the playa.
In later years he would have assitants called ROAD HOSERS to spread the processed water on the roads around camp.
This is how I got MY name. I would come back very late at night... very drunk.. and it was always a worry that as I staggered by I would fall into one of the pools.
Hence the name ... STAGGER
